Superchips Questions and Updates
Hot digity dog. I got mine working. I guess I either recycled a brain cell or they took pity on my but I was able to register the new sw and install it on my pc. I'll plug in the tuner tomorrow at lunch and see that kind of dance it ends up being.
Well, I was able to do some more testing today. The wife has been at her parents all day, so I had all morning to do some testing before the games started.
Transmission Upshift: This is what I started with today since I had worked on this the most last time and wanted to get it finished up. After the last tuning test I did, I had 1up pretty much locked in, which left me 2-4 up to work on today. My goal with the adjustments is to have the truck run where I can drive around town with light throttle and have the rpm’s stay in between 2000 and 3000 rpm’s. That is where I like to drive it and think the truck feels the best in that range. Well, I will spare you the details of all the changes I made and just let you know that after some tweaking of the set points and a few test drives, I got it right where I wanted it. Now I can start out from a stop, lightly touch the throttle and accelerate easily through each gear where it runs up to about 3000 rpm (2500 for 1st) and then shifts. The shift drops it down to about 2000 rpm where it climbs back up again to 3000 for the next shift. Obviously, with a harder acceleration these numbers change but for light acceleration this is where it is dialed in and it feels great. The moral of the story is this, you can decide where you want your truck’s rpm’s to stay and set the tune to do exactly that. Here is a little vid I made so you can see it run through the first few gears and stay right in the 2-3k rpm range.

Torque Management: Once I got my upshifts dialed in, I began experimenting with TM. When I left off last time I had it set at 10%, so that is where I began today. I figured that today was as good a time as any to try getting down closer to 0% TM. Took it out for a spin and it felt good, still had firm shifts and they are fast, lightning fast. But I will be honest, I like the idea of having a little TM in there since this setting is WOT TM as well as PT TM. So I dialed it down a little at a time until I found a level that I liked the best, which happens to be 6%. The difference between 6% and the 10% where I started the day is negligible, but I wanted to leave as little TM in there as possible and 6% felt great so that is what I went with. The best part of this feature is that the truck drives right through the shift. No waiting, no slowing down.
Transmission Downshift: By the time I got to work on the downshifts today it was getting close to game time so I only got a little done with the downshifts. I went back to the schedule that Sil gave me and programmed those values in for the downshifts 5dn through 2dn. Even using these baseline values the truck felt great. When driving around town if I got the urge to pass someone it just took a slight touch of the peddle to get the truck to downshift and go. No longer did I have to bury my foot in it to get it to downshift, sweet.
Overall the truck is responding very well to the new settings. Honest to God, this truck drives so much better now than it ever did that it makes me wonder how I ever drove before these features. Huge thumbs up to Superchips!!!
I will keep you guys updated as I fine tune my setting further.

George tested and came up with this awesome PT schedule baseline. He shared it with the group and it was tweaked a little by each individual in the group to fit their truck. Some folks were able to just load it and go. Some just made minor changes, like myself.
Great work George!!
