Superchips Questions and Updates
Casper, I agree with mschuster. Get one. Even the 3815 makes a noticeable difference in everyday driving. Here's my quick review after the 87 tune upload: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...ml#post1780857
If you have factory tires and wheels, do not change the tire height setting. I had to leave mine alone and the speedo was just fine. I have also noticed Superchips raised my shift points. I about had a canary the other night when I kept my foot on the floor and I saw first go past 6grand!
Scott, thanks for the data logging post! I am going to try it tomorrow. Getting the download wasn't too tough. You just need to select updates, and then data acquisition (no fee). If this works like I think it will, it will save me some headaches and cash!

well i've been reading the last few pages of posts and considering ordering the 3865 this week. i have an '07 QC1500 4x4 4.7 3.92. the truck is 100% stock and it's a pig. i have no interest in smokin the tires or beating the neighbor guy in a race. i think the low RPM is pretty decent. pulling out from a stop it accelerates pretty good. i've never had it full throttle so i don't know what thats like. my biggest complaints are mid-range and towing. driving down the road at 1/2 throttle it feels so sluggish. if i approach a hill i have to push the pedal down almost to the floor to maintain speed. no response at all. pulling my 3000lb. trailer is a joke. in town it's fine but out on the highway i'm in 3rd gear turning about 3500 RPM at ~60mph getting 8.5 MPG. i plan to install a CAI later on but for now i can only do one or the other. the truck only has 11,000 miles on it and i've owned it since new.
what i want is better mid-range, better towing and a little more MPG (getting about 12 in town). is the 3865 the way to go and what tune should i install?

I'd call it a drone. All I know is when I towed my buddies landscape trailer up over the mountain going to his house it was a long, pull and my Silverado had no issues pulling it, but it's either screaming or stuck at a lower rpm. Lower rpm pulled it fine, but the cab interior was filled with a drone. This was with a Volant CAI , which imo is quieter than most CAI's.
Never ever had any complaints with my CAI otherwise, but towing.....you can grow tired of the noise. Exhaust noise is another story and often more tolerable. If I towed regularly I'd pass on a CAI. Good thing I didn't and don't now
I'm not alone though > post #9 and the responses "Towing"

Re: post 1738... I said...
Try this to see if throttle response isn't better:
Turn key to ON - do not start. Mash the throttle to the floor and hold for 10 seconds. While still holding throttle to the floor, turn the key to off; wait another 10 seconds then slowly release the throttle. This should give you much better throttle response.
What I've learned is this procedure recalibrates the throttle. Give it a try and see if it doesn't make a difference.

my throttle response is fine i got no complaints i have a fresh cleaned tb and with my 91tune its all good i just cant wait for the new options to be released....if it works cool just i never heard of anything like that what do i have to lose ill try it....and to all you guys looking at 3815 buy 3865 its better and youll have the new tunes as long as your 04+
Okay, I tried out the datalogging stuff today. I did have to have the ignition on before the SC would let me try selecting that option, but it does work. Mine had the short and long fuel trims selected at first, which was okay, as I got to see how things operated. I then cleared the choices and went to engine options (I think) where I picked calculated load (good to monitor for mpg), engine temp, rpm, and intake air pressure. Have not loaded my "datalogged" stuff yet though. You can only monitor 4 things at once, but you can datalog all of them as I understand it. It's nice I can use this thing as a tuner and gauge set.
3 quick questions....
1. can you use 91 when using the gas saver tune or is it made for 87 and id be wasting money?
2. when using either of the performance tunes, is it better to keep OD off or it doesnt matter?
3. when datalogging trying to find my 1/8 mile or 1/4 speeds, do i literally have to find a empty road and floor it from a complete stop - 1/8 or 1/4 mile as if i was actualy on the track?
