Sorry if this was answered earlier, I read back a couple of pages but not all 2000+ posts.

So, what about future purchases? I'm planning on purchasing a Cortex/Flashpaq with in the next couple months( once I can save up the $$). Will the new programmers come with the update already installed or is it something that will still have to be downloaded. Not sure if that is possible seeing that they will be VIN locked. Thanks.

After the three day freebie, it's a pay for upgrade. The cost is $39.95. Look for your best deal on a 3865 and then upgrade to the options. In my opinion, the options are worth much, much more than $39.95.

Are you suggesting a 3865 over the cortex?? Not sure about the diff between the two, planning on researching them a lil more.

Both offer same tuning. 3865 is a bit more cost effective. The Cortex 3950 comes with a two year power train warranty, that's the big difference between the two.

If you're not concerned about that, then the 3865 will save you a few bucks.

+1 to what Sil mentioned. I went with the Cortex for 1 reason only, seeing I have my truck and that my Pop's has been over seas with his 6.7L CTD here for me to "keep alive" (), I switch between the two when I please. That and when he gets home he'll be able to test out the tow tune and that may just convince him to get his own

Sil

I noticed on the SC forum, Ron had stated that he wasnt sure how the whole thing would happen..regarding the upgrade for future pruchases.

I would reccomend to them that they discontinued the flashpaq for the TCM controlled vehicles and only offer the Cortex to TCM supported vehicles and since the Cortex is higher priced, give the trans support for free with the cortex purchase. This would keep their price similar to Diablo and give the customers a more modern/update lookin tuner IMO AND have more control than Diablo at the same time.
I think keeping the Flashpaq's for the older non-TCM supported vehicles is perfectly fine. This would reduce store inventory as well instead of having 2 tuners for the same vehicle.
Also, allow previous flashpaq owners to do the update for the nominal $40 fee.
That's what i would do, but It's not my decision. i can only make the suggestion.

When you guys download the new upgrades and start making adjustments, let me know if you need any help. I have an excel spreadsheet that I made which compares the up/down shift points as well as shows the changes between your stock shift schedule and the changes you make. Using graphs makes adjusting the trans much easier. It helps avoid the up/down crossover that Sil posted up in post 2140.
