You still livin with the stocker or you replace with one to keep cooled off? What brand you go with? Like it or hate it? Let us know here.
We all know that thermostats are extremely important to the life of an engine. Installing a low temp t-stat and help improve the life of the engine by allowing the engine to run at a cooler temp.

We all know that thermostats are extremely important to the life of an engine. Installing a low temp t-stat and help improve the life of the engine by allowing the engine to run at a cooler temp.

That myth is untrue.
The engines are designed for certain clearances that are achieved between 195 and 200 degrees. They are also more efficient at this temp. Running cooler than that causes parts to be moving at the improper dimension.
Worked fine in older engines that would barely go 100K without a rebuild. Today's tighter engines can go well over 200K with proper routine maint.
This is also why today's engines use 5w20 oil vs 10w40 like in the 70's.

Other mods like a tuner, which advances the timing, causing a lean mix, and better "breathing" mods such as CAI and Headers all work to lean you out. In these instances, a cooler thermostat is a very inexpensive alternative to a piggyback A/F controller or a custom tune to get your A/F back in spec...

Good points Hammer. I've kept my stock tstat mainly due to those reasons. I don't have a tuner, and I don't hear my engine ping, so I'll stick with it... For those looking for mpgs, a 180 tstat will not help.
