Will Mods void Warrenty
Not looking to pick a fight here, and I do honestly read and value your opinions, as a service manager you obviously have a lot of first hand service knowledge. I also agree with most of the advice you give. That said, as I stated before, I played golf with the local sales manager at my Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealership (who has sold me 2 Grand Cherokees, my Hemi and 2 Grand Caravans for my mother). Here is the gist of the conversation.
He actually got "red faced" pissed when I told him that a Chrysler service manager made the statement that the dealership has no responsibility to warranty repair a Chrysler vehicle. He said the only way that Chrysler would back the dealer short of it being a non-chrysler modification that directly caused the failure of a Chrysler part would be in the case of blatent mis-conduct on the part of the customer. He said he's seen dealerships lose their "5 star" certification over warranty issues and has even worked at a dealership where Chrysler threatened to pull the plug on the dealers right to sell Chrysler products over poor customer service.
He wanted me to print a copy of this thread and give it to him. I did not do this, of course, nor did I reveal what forum it appeared on. (BTW, he has been with Chrysler for 14 years and didn't even know what a forum was, not a computer person, he says).
So, it appears to me, that all Chrysler employees do not share your opinions on warranty issues. Also, I have read the documentation you have posted, and to me, it goes to prove what the majority is trying to say, that unless the mod is the part that has failed, or directly causes the failure of a part, Chrysler is not responsible to repair it under warranty.
Again, not trying to get into a battle here, but I said I'd mention this "dealerships don't have to honor a Chrysler warranty" thing when I saw him today and post the results of the conversation, however it came out.

Please don't shoot the messenger here, I just want to share the painful truth. Dealerships don't have to prove anything, ever. Dealerships don't HAVE to warranty anything, ever, period. Once you buy a vehicle and drive it off the lot, it is yours. If it breaks down 30 seconds later, the dealer does not have to do anything to help you. Chrysler corp. is responsible for the warranty, not the dealer....

Sorry Parts/Service but if you work at a CC dealership then the OWNER(s) of said dealership entered into a Sales AND SERVICE agreement with the Chrysler Corporation.
The Owner(s) of your dealership (Your Boss) might not share your views on the way you have stated SERVICE (to include Warranty) here in this post.
The Owner SIGNED a CONTRACT with CC or he/she (his/her dealership) could NOT even have Chrysler products.
Go into the Owners Office and ask to see the agreement that was signed with CC. Try reading the section about Service.
hey there, new too this, so what i understand is that my truck (2007 dodge ram single cab 5.7 hemi) still being on warranty, that even though i went too lets say a parts store that could provide me with a chip it would not void my warranty unless the chip itself is a direct cause of the issue? now im not too sure if there is a difference from canada to US warranty ****.
