What is the worst design flaw in the 3rd gens?
It's got to be that stupid floor-mounted cupholder in the Mega Cab. Why go through all the trouble of making the biggest cab ever, only to nullify the 6th seating position with that lame design? As a family of 5, we were excited to finally see a Dodge that could seat 3 across the back in equal comfort (not to mention finally having a head-restraint in the center). However, we are always taking along an extra kid or friend, so that cupholder on the floor killed the deal for us. Now I'm waiting on the '09.
WIND BUFFERING
I like to ride with the back windows down. At over 40 mph the wind buffering is so bad it feels like someone is beating on my head. I check with another local owner and he has the same problems so I do not think it is isolated with my truck.

I figure the 3rd gen V6 would probably be about as quick as my 98 4x4 with the 5.2, I have never driven a V6 ram though.

But it seems that the people with lower numbered gear ratios (3.21) and quadcabs like eltupac really dislike it.
Guess I'm one of the lucky ones, 93,000 miles on my 04 and never had the LSD problem, warping rotor, or door seal tears, or anything like that. But I have burned up the clutch packs in my tranny due to the poorly designed ,weak *** 2nd prime kickdown.
I guess if I was to nit-pick, I also do not like the wide a-pillars, they block my view and I almost hit a kid on a bike because of it. A-Pillar blind spot...

I'm at 90K on my 03 and my vote goes out to the placement of the heater core and evaporator. I've had the tranny redone at 72,000 (Dodge covered half and that was like pulling teeth), and recently replaced the heater core (bad design!) and evaporator which require the entire dismantling and removal of the dash and a coil pack and that is it. I have change the rear end grease every year I've had the truck and maybe that is why I haven't had any problems with it yet. Mine is an 03 Quad 2WD with a 4.7 and I've towed 5Klbs plus about a quarter of the trucks life so I'm still happy with it 4 1/2 years later.
