What is the worst design flaw in the 3rd gens?
What do you think is the worst flaw in the 3rd Gen. Dodge trucks? My vote is the leak prone steering rack on the 1500's and the rearends would be a close second. Cracked dash, terrible gas mileage, rough rear ride, rear door electrical, front door seals, and sagging passenger visor all place next somewhere in line. This will be the second time the ol' P1491 code has reared it's ugly engine light on head! Dodge should do the right thing and recall the shroud as the design is defective. I really do love this truck but don't know if I can afford all these repairs. The repairs were really discouraging when I was still paying for it, combined with the 10.7AVG city gas hog.
worst design flaw with every truck is the nose down stance, i mean air bag helper sorings are $250 retail they should start making those an option to keep the truck level when fully loaded.
By far the worst design on the truck is the factory LSD. Nobody with a factory LSD can escape the dreaded "c-clip issue" for very long...
While I have not had the issue, based on others I would also vote for the differential.
All though the design of the 02-05 door seals were VERY bad as well.
