so i've been thinking about getting new tires for a while, and with out first bit of snow yesterday, id say i need to get on it before we get hit with a real storm. ive never like the stock wranglers, but after reading reviews on tire sites, i never realised how horrible they were. i need tires that will grip in the rain and snow, but also wont be real noisy on the highway. I really dont want to spent $200 per tire. what did you guys get? what do you suggest?
also, with a rwd, can i just replace the rear tires?
I have 285x70x17 Khumo AT's on my truck with everything else stock. The tires are really good on the rain and really good on the snow as well. I live in Chicago so I get alot of different types of snow and I don't put any weight in the bed of my truck. These tires have a tread that looks kinda like the Mickey Thompson ATZ's. On the road they are basically silent. I have the FM50 DOR exhaust on my ram too and I don't hear the tires at all. They are really cheap for the most part too.
i would say go with some nitto terra grapplers they are about 135 or so per tire and handle very well on and off the road and in snow and rain and everything
I have the Toyo Open Country AT's, and they're pretty good too. Much better than the stock tires I had on mine. Local dealer here has them for $209.95/ea, but that's installed and includes 4 wheel alignment with set of four tires.
