A Humvee sits lower to the ground than a stock Ram. 5 feet of water is over almost anyone's head who sits in one.

I shouldn't be comparing a military vehicle that was born to be driven in the worst conditions to a civillian truck.

Btw, that is insane what that guy did to that Ram. However, with all the money he spent on that truck, he probably could've just went to a military base and bought a Humvee for less. But hey, kudos to him having a 6x6 truck.. 4 mpg on the highway?

Edit: After seeing some photos of T-Rex climbing boulders the size of a Humvee I think it might have the Humvee beat on everything but the water fording.

You may see a Hummer H1 in a few of those pics.. Still very different from a Humvee.

look him up on here- sprueitt or go to urbansurvivors.com

he did it because dodge scrapped the project.

not sure what Stan gets for mileage. It's the stock V10 drivetrain, 6.72 2.5 ton rockwells 4 linked, and 42" TSL's. Mostly trailered, but kept DOT legal for emergencies (which he's had more than a few times..including an emergency rescue, i forget where)

I was kidding about the mpg but it wouldn't seem too far off given the setup he has. 6.72 axle with 6 wheels, huge lift, big v10.. Not to mention the 62 gallon gas tank.. Something that big might be an indication.

Not true. I have the tow package, the mirrors are not included in 08. They were a separate option. I do not have them. I have the standard power/heated mirrors.

Well, for what its worth I've got an 07 QC,4x4, towing package, hemi laramie that I'll probably test drive on Sunday or Monday.

Looking for a new truck is really starting to suck. I've spent more time on the internet than I've ever wanted to looking into these trucks. The more I look the more negative things I come across on the Rams. Weak trannies, weak balljoints, leaking power steering units, gear levers getting stuck in position.

As much as I hate to say it, looks like the F150 significantly has the upper hand in regards to reliability. The complaints I did find were not as major as transmissions and such.

Plus for whatever reason the people who tow with their F150's are pulling more than what I would pull and doing it very easily and with no complaints.

Why am I posting this? I have no idea. I'm venting, looking for answers, trying to leave no stone unturned, not wanting to get screwed again. Geez what a pain. If I had spent 15 minutes on any Ford forum before buying my 6 litre powerstroke I wouldn't even be going through this.

I really appreciate everyones help on the info I was looking for.

For what it's worth, I had a brand new F-150, broke a piston and left my a$$ on the side of the road trailering all of a 2500 lb. bass boat home from a tourney. With all of 14,000 miles on it.
The WAR I had with Ford over fixing it will make me NEVER buy another Ford again...
