Default Hughes Intake Maniflod for 5.9, Opinions please

Has anyone upgraded to the Hughes intake manifold on there 5.9? I was talking to Hughes about it and I know it eliminates the plenum but I am not sure if the extra 400 bucks is worth it. Here is a link if anyone is intersted in checking it out. Thanks

I don't see how those short runners can not lose torque compared to the stock intake.
It would work good in a light car such as a Duster or Demon, not so sure about a heavy truck!!

I talked to Hughes and of course they told me what I wanted to hear. I asked Fastman Dan and he said that it was a really good intake. I also checked out the 2nd gen page and there where some good and some bad things. Has anyone run this intake? If so was it worth the money?

I will let you know how it works, I ended up ordering one. I plan on installing it next weekend. I am hoping to pick up some power when accelerating on to the interstate. They also claim mpg gain. I'll let you know how the install goes. I am hoping to remember to take good pictures.

That intake is badass! I run it, you'll like it. Wrote a thread about it in the 2nd gen section, when a few guys asked about it:

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-the-vids.html

It'll change the whole tone of your truck's engine sound, can't explain it exactly, but you'll have a hard time keeping your foot out of it, so no MPG gain there. you'll have no trouble passing, but if you throw some headers on, it'll be even better.

How difficult was it to install? I have a CAI and a new TB to go with it next weekend. Is one weekend enough time? Thanks for the link It is really hard to really get the true sound on my laptop speakers but it definetley sounded good.

follow steve's guide for plenum gasket repair in the second gen section. Give yourself 8 hours if you've never dug into the engine before, as you'll need to label parts, bolts and other stuff.

2 things,

1. Definitely take the time to remove the front tab on the thermostat housing. a new t stat would be cheap insurance.

2. there's no better time to replace the cap and rotor than when the intake is off. do it!
