Default RE: Miles per gallon- What are you getting?

MY '02 Dodge gets about 10 miles/ gal. (That is a 4.7L!) My tires aren't helping, neither is the $3/ gal. I stumbled across this site while finding my mileage improving tools. I have an exhaust and just purchased a throttle body spacer. I'll be picking up an intake in a few minutes but would also like a mod chip. Any suggestions on which chip will improve my fuel efficiency with the *BONUS* of more power?

2004 Ram 1500 Quad Cab, 4.7L, 20" wheels, 3.92 gears, 34K miles! Getting 12.5 city/hwy mix. If I drive like Grandpa 13.8/14.2. Monday 5-8-06 I am installing a K&N CAI, Magnaflow Dual Cat Back exhaust, and Superchip programmer to see if that helps any in MPG???

If anyone has theory behind these installed options please respond to me and let me know if I will get an increase on MPG after spending all this change$$$?

Do a little math. Use $3/gal at 12.5 mpg driving about 1000 miles a month = $240 for gas. All things the same, if you got a 10% improvement in milage with the changes, and chances are you won't, you're cost will be $218/month. That's a savings of $18 a month.

I don't know exactly, but it looks like you're about to drop close to $1000. That means it will take over 4 1/2 years to recoup the cost. I'd say it's not worth it just to save gas. Of course, it'll look a lot cooler when you pop the hood and sound meaner when you get on it....and you will!

Ok I’m new so I'll try to be brief I have a 2006 Dodge 1500 ram with the new Hemi 5.7 (MDS) 20 inch wheels and 3.92 gears . I added nerf bars and next week I get my Tonneau Cover. So far I have 720 miles on my truck. I Averaged 10 miles per gallon pulling my boat (4000pds) but that was just for just 25 miles. My drive to work consists of 11 miles highway 5 city. And I average 18.5 miles per gallon using 89 octane with 10% ethanol. My average on the tachometer reads 1650 to 1800RPM’s at 61 miles per hour. Is anyone else getting these numbers?

05 QC Lonestar( also known as Bighorn) 5.7 HEMI, 24k miles, no mods- I get 15.5 avarage city w/ hard driving and 17 to 18 city w/ easy starts stops and keeping it under 67 mph. On long trips I get 21-22 mpg at 65-67 w/ cruise controle. At 70+ I get 19-20 depending on speed. With a 32 gal tank I have made a 605 mile trip. Trip was from Houston to Borger Texas (Dead center of texas panhandle). still had some gas left in tank.
