2003 QC 5.7 Hemi 2WD....pretty much stock besides a drop in K&N and a cap. I do mostly city miles, but some highway mixed in. I've been averaging about 13-14mpg. The console reads about 7-8mpg riding around the city, but it's obviously waayyyyyyyyy off.

Well I hit the best number on my overhead to date. I pulled 19.1 MPG, 2005 Hemi with 3.92 gears. How did I do this??

Long story but I was trying to figure out the "optimal" speed for gas milage. I drove 30 miles on a flat highway. It seemed that the optimal speed for best MPG is somewhere between 60 and 62.

Now, I did not try lower than 60, I would have been rear ended most likely.

So for a short 30 miles I got 19.1 After getting off teh hgihway and drivning around the city for about 12 miles I am now back to reality, 16.9.

Yea, but that was with 30 miles of 19.1 average mixed in with only 12 miles of city driving.

In my first four tanks I have ranged from 13.5 to 15.5. Just depends on how much highway I had been driving. If I take the highway to work everyday I am looking at 14 miles one way with only 3 miles city. I may experiement with a tank of gas and run 60 on the highway, even though the speed limit is 65, and see what I get.

I am sitting here reading everyone's posts, and I just can't figure out how I am only getting 10.6 mpg manually calculated which was about 3 tenths off of the computer. I dont have a heavy foot I actually drive it as careful and slow as possible usually getting beat off of the line by the elderly people. I have no mods to it at all, everything is completely stock. Oh yea its a 2004 4.7 QC with 28k miles

Hard to believe some of these numbers. I have an '02 Jeep Grand Chrerokee 4x4 (part-time) with the 4.7L and 3.73s. Average MPG is 14.9 - this is over the entire 52,000 mile life of the Jeep. Best tank was just under 18 MPG. There is no way you will convince me that any Dodge V8 4x4 can get 20 MPG.

I had a '97 Dakota 4x4 ExCab 318/auto with 3.55s and NEVER got over 16 MPG.

My current '05 4x4 Quad 2500 w/ Hemi, auto, and 4.10s has averaged 12.5 MPG over the first 3,600 miles. Best tank was 14.7 MPG.

Just an update...I am now up to 1500 miles and my average MPG has now raised to 14.7. Still driving 30-35 miles per day combined. Shell regular 87 octane still seems to be raising my mpg numbers by .3 to .5 mpg. I'm comparing Shell to Mobile and Marathon. Not enough miles yet to know for sure but I will post more later.
