The current 3.7 has the 42rle as far as I know, unless they changed it in 2010.

Mine has the 545rfe last I recall. I can't for the life of me find the tag where it says it (believe me, I've looked), but I count five gears and TQ lockup in fifth. The only thing is that my truck LOVES to skip gears. The tranny absolutely HATES this motor, and vica-versa. That really is the only reason why I do 80+ on the HWY is because the trans wants to get into overdrive so bad, but the motor only makes power over 2 grand. Hell, It pulled a trailer full of subaru station wagon up a mountain at 80 and didn't complain. The moment you drop below that, and even the wind can make the trans panic. Either I'm gonna have to get some gears and build the tar out of a 3.7, or I'm gonna have to bolt in the new v6 when I blow this one to smithereens!

From everything I've read the only auto w/ the 3.7 Ram has been the 42rle, that's what shows up when you build a new one on dodge's site.

okay after more research we are both right.

the 45rfe,545rfe came behind the 3.7L ram from 2002 through 2005.

2006 to present the 42rle was put behind the 3.7L ram.

only from the years 2006 to present.

which would make the 2002-2005 3.7L ram have a stronger drivetrain with the bigger transmission.

Exclamation

on cape cod you enter exit 6 at a 34% grade then go downhill off the cape, coming back on cape getting over the bridge to a 41% grade ive learned one thing, put the truck in the power band, 2800 rpm and let it fly!you need to work the engine thats rediculously underpowered for a vehicle of the rams weight. Although the little stuff i put on my truck seems to have freed up RPM's the truck as a v8 still doesnt like hills. Face it guys, its not your dads kinda truck from the 70's and 80's with a manual and a straight six designed with moving houses in mind.
