Looking to put on a Flowmaster 50 HD. Anybody have one? Is it worth the money?

Flowmaster has rust issue's unless your in the south. They are also restrictive and drone pretty bad..imo. I couldn't tolerate a Flow on the Ram. I would suggest a Stainless muffler so it'll cost you only one time. I have a magnaflow and it's very tamed and basically no drone. It's an 18" oval polished Stainless. They can be had for about $90 shipped.

Had one, droned pretty bad in the cab from about 1800 rpm to about 2400 rpm.
Decent sound other than the drone, especially after adding headers.

When I removed it to weld on my current CB Extreme, the top looked like a slice of swiss cheese, despite the bottom and sides looking fine. I'm guessing condensation gathered on the inside top of the muffler regularly?

Also not the best "flowing" muffler out there. IMO there are better choices for the $...

Had it and hated it. Sound wasn't great, drone was bad and the truck performed better when I took it off.

Hey guys - Flowmaster makes a number of stainless steel mufflers which work great on trucks - check it out at www.flowmastermufflers.com. And all of our newest systems/kits are 409S stainless steel with a 10 year warranty. As far a drone, if you are working with a custom system, the placement of the muffler is key. I work for Flowmaster so I'll spare you the sales pitch. If you want real guidance on exhaust system design or products call the tech line at (800) 544-4761 - its free.

I hope those ss mufflers are better than the regular models. My last muffler was a super 40 and it rusted out to the point that I could press my thumb through the case in less than a year.

My guess is ya'll had 40's and the op is interested in 50's. Well I have a 50 installed, no drone and no obnoxious noise either. It is loud when at wot,and thats where I like it.Any muffler will rust eventually, for the money,it was clearly the most bang for my buck. I know it'll rust, but I am pleased with mine so far. When compared too the others it was good deal imo. I did all my research here in this forum. btw, before they started too rust I guess. Check out the faq on mufflers, that'll tell ya, who got what, initially.

Default drone topic

If drone is an issue - and it is for me (when I was younger, all I wanted was loud and didn't care as long as it had the sound of performance on the outside) - the key is the positioning of the mufflers and the exit point. A tail pipe that exits out the back or side - away from the cabin - will greatly help reduce or eliminate drone. Larger mufflers, like the HD 50 or even the 70 are very popular and can also be a fix. Again, not being an expert on Dodge truck platforms, I suggest you call our free tech line and get some real information about what is possible and how to the address the problem. These guys are real enthusiasts so you won't just get a sales pitch. (800) 544-4761 As for a Dodge truck expert when you call to get the right person.
