i had a diff thread that mentioned i used plasti dip on my rims and i got alot of people that wanted to see the results - so they are below. the way i did it was to sand the rim to scuff it up,then i washed the whole thing with simple green, then i used self etching primer to help it bond, followed by 2-3 coats of the plasti dip. i learned a good lesson after the first rim = if u use tape to block off the holes make sure you use a razor knife to cut it off otherwise the plasti dip will pull off in one big sheet, lol. i also found out that with plasti dip you dont have to sand or use anything other than something to wash it prior to using plasti dip, this stuff sticks to everything and if you put it on thick it wont run. ok now check out the pics: o and i had to paint 1 rim at a time using the spare each time i took a rim off for paint, lol this method took forever but it was the only way.
now that looks real good it appears to have come out real nice...now the question is how does the flat or matte black contrast with the high gloss of the truck?....
i will post one tomorrow. the plasti dip looks shiny even though its not and you can use wheel gloss or armorall on it. if you want to clear coat it then you have to use the plasti dip clear coat which you can only get online. the flat look looks fine to me
Has anyone tried the plasti dip on their grill (chrome part)?
John- I like it but i second a picture of the whole truck.
i just recently painted i grill, thou i used dupilcolor paint. was pretty easy but i just painted on truck... would have come out a little better if i would have taken off.. im sure plasti dip would work
the tires had wheel coating on them thats why they look like that. i used index cards and stuck them around the rim inbetween the tire and rim, then i painted away. im making a video on how i did it and ill post it here when im done

Did you sand it or any kind of prep before? Have a picture?
John-sounds good (video) I'm going to do this to my 17" stockers before winter comes that way I can get an idea on what to expect and how it will hold up.

i scuffed it with red scotch pad, wiped with rubbing alcohol, 2 coats of adheasion promoter, couple coats of paint and clear.. heres a crappy pic.. i used the same methods to do the ram emblem on the hood. and all the plastic trim peices
