Default What would you guys say?

My neighbor has this 2004 4.7 that has been sitting for about 3 months. It is pretty rough as you can see. It has always been here in FL so no rust. Has leather of some kind, not sure if it's the stock Larime type. There is damage to all 4 front bumper pieces, and probably the brackets, the LF fender, tailgate, and left rear bed corner, bottom right bed side, and the rear window is blown out. I have read about the 4.7's tranny problems and overheating. It had 87k in Feb 09 so I'm guessing it has anywhere from 100-120k now. The only damage on the carfax is the front bumper. If it had a Hemi I wouldn't be so concerned. The interior is just as torn apart and busted. My thinking is get it extremely cheap and fix up best I can with salvage parts. It was pretty well taken care of until about a year ago, first 3-4 years a lot of service was done. New ring and pinion at 42k. His brother got it a year ago and here it is today...

The tailgate, bumpers, fender can all be replaced easily. Repairing the dents in the box will be where some skill is needed. I dont think I would bay anymore than 2500-3000$ for it. I bought my 03 with nothing wrong with it for 7500$

Yeah I know it's a ton of work, not just body, I'm sure it needs mechanical stuff to. At first I was thinking no more than 3k, now it's more like no more than 1k.....

I would say no more than $3k myself. But hell, if you could talk him out of it for a grand, more power to ya'.
I've actually seen 'em go at auction in worse shape than that AND NOT RUNNING for as much as $5k...

$1500 is the most I'd give. The basic repairs are gonna cost a pretty penny. I'm not talking about any of the dents or tailgate. Stuff like all new fluids, rear window, brakes, tires. Those few items will cost you atleast $1500 IF you do everything yourself. That doesn't even count the interior on what needs to be done. Just talking to make it road worthy which it clearly isn't. Vehicles like that need to be ticketed and parked off the road IMO. Florida is the worst for those type of vehicles.

That Ram around me in perfect running order that has been properly maintained that doesn't need anything would seel for $4-6k. There's nearly double that in damage there.

If it was stolen it would probably be totalled. I would add up the repair costs both interior and exterior and have the drivetrain inspected. Figure in frustration factor getting everything sorted. I would pass unless it could be bought for scrap. Good luck...
