Damn when I was 17 it was the things the hemi ATTRACTED that had me excited, not the hemi itself lol.

 

Yea unfortunately those days are over! Now its about who has the newest and most fuel efficient car or who's trying to "save the world"

2003 Dodge 5.7 Hemi 4X4 31k miles




I have been reading some of the posts about poor gas mileage. Well, I'm a first time Dodge owner just 2 weeks into hopefully a long relationship with my truck. I found (or so thought) this sweet 2003 Dodge Ram 4X4 w/ 31k original mile and looks like it just came off the showroom floor. that's saying something for Pa. Anyway, my poor gas mileage is nothing to what I've seen on here. I just checked it today and I got around 9.8 mpg. I bought it for power pulling my 7k camper but may wish I would have stuck with my Chevy's. I haven't really even put my foot into it yet, what's going to happen when I hook into my trailer. open for suggestions. HELP !

 

A few things to consider replacing

Spark plugs
plug wires
air filter
O2 sensors

Check your tire pressure, use a good fuel injection cleaner, reset your PCM and keep it under 3K rpm

 

I haven't had much of a chance to get 3k rpms. will have to try the other suggestions maybe even a chip.

 

Unless you are scared of driving and go really really slow, it's hard not to get to 3K+ LoL

 

well I did try it out after my name was on the dotted line and it got a lil squirrelly on me ha ha, but other than that I have been keeping it slow trying to get the mileage up.

any suggestions on what plugs will help me out ? also wires etc.... What is a PCM and how do you reset it ? mileage is slowly getting worse down to 9mpg now even on the highway.
