Exclamation Dash Cracked!!!

Has anyone had a problem with the dash cracking? started out as a small crack in the center and has spread from the top of the dash all the way to the windshield..Does anyone have a fix for this other then replacing the dash or putting a cover over it?

Mine starting cracking. I have the awesome uncommon blue interior thats impossible to find replacement parts. The piece with the defrost vents is only 180 bucks from the dealer. The actual dash pad on top is about 800 dollars and you have to remove the whole dash to replace.

Since both of mine were cracking I knew was a matter of time. Then when my heater core went i had to remove the dash. Well that top piece with the vents snaps in there. So when you pull on it to unsnap it it breaks. Then dodge attaches the defrost vents to the dash pad so that cause the main piece to crack causing me to throw it in anger it shattered. I was pissed to say the least.

I found a junkyard to send me the entire dash minus the gauges, bags, and controls for 175 and replaced them.

Almost every 2nd Gen Ram and early 3rd Gen ('02 & some early '03s) has the dash cracking issue. Funny, but most dealerships will tell you "never seen that happen before" when you bring it in to them...

There's a place I saw somewhere on the internet that offers new hard plastic oem type dash covers for your truck in oem colors with installation videos for $100-$200. Can't remember the name but do a search. It's out there.

Pull a dash from a late '03 or newer and it'll be fine, Chrysler changed OE manufacturer due to the issue in early '03...
