If your running Synthetic...forget about the mileage. I would reccomend changing it when the oil is very dark looking, but certainly no more than 8kmi. Everyone is differnet though. If you live in a sandy or dusty area, I wouldn't go further than 3kmi regardless of oil type. Synthetic or not, the dirt is still in the oil.
Oil can go far beyond what industry standard rates them at due to technology and the efficiency of the newer engine's.
I change mine every 5kmi in my wife's car (she drives on mostly 50mph or above roads)
I change my truck oil every 3kmi so far because it does a bit of idling in my driveway and towing around town.

I use either Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Platinum, with Mobil 1 or Mopar filters and change every 5k. Makes the change interval easier to remember, and rotate tires at the same time.
