any body use this hook ?
ok ill look too ! i just seen one for the first time the other day on a truck in my town , and i have never seen one before i found it for $10.99 and wondered if they really hold up to a good tough TUG or even a good hard pull with a chain
Was a big discussion about that very hook on a Jeep forum I'm on. Lot of guys dead-panned the thing as not being as strong as some of the US made and more expensive ones, but I don't recall anyone ACTUALLY breaking one.
Might be iffy, cause you usually do get what you pay for, and a full size truck is a LOT heavier than a Jeep. I'd just make sure if I used one, I'd weigh down the center of any rope or chain I attached to it, so if something breaks, it'd go to the ground, rather than being a deadly projectile...

I have one, but I've yet to use it. Don't think I'd hang the truck from it, but it feels solid enough to use to pull someone out of a ditch.

I had about $8 in the shackle (16k rated if memory serves) and since I had the receiver laying around, it was my total cost...
A hint on buying shackles, D-rings, hooks, etc.: Hit your local Tractor Supply or any other farm equipment store. You'll get US made, VERY high strength stuff made for farm use at a fraction of the cost that Off-Road or Truck Specialty shops charge for them...

Hammer Tractor & Supply is an amazing store for all kinds of off road stuff and not to mention the cool stuff for the garage. I personally picked up a reciever that has a D-ring and pin that i picked up for $20 bucks made in the US and rated at 10k.
