IMO go with a 4" suspension lift, the better ones do not raise the CVs significantly. Skyjacker IS about the best 6" kit, but NOBODY has pulled off a 6" kit that doesn't raise the CV angle quite a bit. It's also the only TRUE 6" kit on the market for torsion, IFS front ends. Other 6" kits are actually anywhere from 4.5-5.5" and rely on a torsion bar crank (again lifting the CV angle even more) for the rest of the lift.

Do the 4" in suspension then add your 3" body lift for a total of 7". This will easily clear 37s and although the weight of 37s will still cause premature wear and there is still a chance of CV explosion, it's the strongest setup you can ask for to clear tires larger than 35"...

I do know they're tougher than the older toyota IFS. Tough as those little trucks are they're not made to run really big tires.

Compared to other full sized, IFS trucks they are no weaker, but still don't compare to a SFA. I've actually seen more GM trucks with broken CVs than I have Rams.

I believe there is one company making a stronger CV, but I can't remember the name, maybe someone else will chime in.

Obviously, if you are doing this on a "pavement queen" the odds of you snapping a front end component is less.

It's your truck, your money. Lift it as high as you want and stick the biggest tires on it you can. We are just letting you know what issues you may run into...
