Tranny Fluid...not just for the gears.
So talking with the relatives, we are all truck guys, we got into additives in gas and fuel.
How many of you guys with older diesels use a quart of tranny fluid in a tank of fuel to mix with the low sulfer diesel fuels at the pump?
Reason: Lower sulfer fuels have less lubrication in them.
How many of you mix 1 quart of Tranny Fluid with the engine oil???
Reason: cleans the engine and prevents sludge.
These were popular choices at the Christmas get together.

Sure, Ive heard of it. We used to add some to gas engines to use as a detergent to clean out the crud and crap build up in older engines. Also used to use a small amount of diesel to clean them out. But Ive never heard of anyone using trans fluid in a diesel because they already burn clean internally

Yep, was talked about briefly by Stacey David on Gears one day along with using tranny fluid as a "finger lube" for internals when building or upgrading an engine.
Guys 'round south Ga. use TCW3 and it's even gaining a following with the gasser crowd for adding back the lubrication lost to ethanol in gasoline now. Some guys report mpg gains equal to or a little better than using a non-ethanol gas.
It also has similar cleaning properties as tranny fluid.
Of course a lot of my truck owning buddies I fish and hunt with. Quite a few I used to fish the bass tours with still do, so most of these guys have TCW3 always on hand.
I've been on the fence about trying TCW3 myself... The theory sounds good, anyway...

A 2 Cycle engine lubricant that has been certified to meet certain high standards for protection by the NMMA (National Marine Manufacturers Association).
Tests are showing it to add a level of lubrication to car/truck engines often lost to ethanol in gas. It also has detergents that has been shown to safely clean the internals in the engine and fuel system.
Lot of data on this can be found with a Google search...

Yeah, the ONLY negatives I've heard yet is when guys go above the recommended amount and have some plug fouling and O2 sensor issues. I guess guys figure if a little is good, a lot is great...
