Default Pro comp tuner

Has anyone on here ever put a pro comp tuner on a 2002 dodge ram 1500, 5.9L? I was thinking about doing this and wanted to know the outcome. I would like to have a smoother shift with my auto tranny and calibrate my tires to my speedometer. Thanks!

It does the same things as Bullydog and Hypertech. Neither which is all that great of a tuner.
You do have limited options since you have an '02, but for the money, the ProComp is WAY overpriced!
From THIS site, and chart, it doesn't look like it does the 5.9L gasser???

The Pro Comp tuner is licensed from Hypertech. It will not do near what the diablo or Superchips will do.

I know the Superchips will add close to 50 HP and 60 Lb/ft or Torque to a 5.9 gasser and will firm up the tranny lines a good bit, also will re-calibrate the speedo...

The 5.9's detuned that bad? Those sound like diesel gains.

Yep, it's called "let's fix the plenum leak issue without fixing the plenum leak issue"... Big time de-tuned from the factory...

Well im not looking for more horsepower or making the engine faster, im just wanting better fuel mileage and a firmer shifting tranny. . Any suggestions? It really doesnt matter the brand of tuner, just wanted to know the outcome of putting one on a 5.9 gas. . I dont want to chance blowing my truck up is the only thing.

The Superchips is the only one out there increasing line pressure in the tranny to my knowledge. No tuner is going to give you more than maybe a 1 mpg increase on the LA 5.9. Any who claim more are blowing smoke.

Aside from the known plenum issue, that 5.9 is a tank. Hard to kill one, but fuel economy is NOT it's strong suite. Not much you can do to increase MPGs much short of the Prius mod...
