Thanks Matt!

I like the winch mount you made for the front I wish someone would make one fir the rear bumper hidden I would think your design would work with mods for the rear of the truck in between the factory hitch

I don't think there's enough room in the rear for any type of hidden mount unless you set the thing WAY too low and even with that you would impede getting to the spare tire.

If you want to be able to mount the winch at the rear, a simple portable cradle would still be the way to go. I have a portable for the front of my Jeep and ran an extra 2/0 wire to the rear of my truck that would allow me use the portable on the rear along with the permanent winch on the front. Currently I've pulled that cable up into the bed thru a water drain hole and am running a 2nd battery which is under my tool box for the time being (until I get a chance to re-route my CAI under the hood scoop to make room for a passenger side battery tray). But it's a five minute thing to pull the wire back down and run it to the rear bumper again if need be...

I realize I'm dredging up an older post, I'm wondering what grade bolts were used to run through the frame, and did you sleeve the frame rail where the bolts were placed?
thanx! (I'm working on a mount for my winch now and am in the measure 4x cut once stage ;-))

I'd go at least grade 5s. I did a grill/winch mount for a friend with an '02 Ram and the mounting hardware didn't match up so I drilled the frame and cut a few pieces of thick flat stock and used them on the backside of the holes as backplates. Worked out fine...
