Default Painting stock wheels?

I know people have posted about this but i cant seem to find what im looking for. I have a 2008 a dodge ram with the chrome looking wheels, but i want to powdercoat them black...the problem is when i touch them they feel like plastic to me, and there is a chip in one and underneath it still feels plastic...my question is does this chrome clad peal off and if it does would it make my wheel a different shape? or look different?....how thick is the plastic

its been discussed quite a few times...

its a chrome cover. You need to chill on them, check craigslist for some aluminum 20s (there are a few around town here right now) and then sell your chrome ones. I did that and made enough to cover powdercoating plus some extra

yea. when they made them, they had an aluminum model out also. you will see some people saying they are the same underneath but that is not true, and the chrome ones have a funny lip and no way to put the center cap in.

You CAN sand/paint the chrome cap just like any other plastic piece on the truck. But like I said, you can make money off of the deal. The chrome ones have a tendency to acid etch also, looks like a spider web all over the lip

heres mine awhile ago, satin black (gloss kinda looks cheesy IMO)

plastidip and paint are different things...and if you are going a shiny painted look it doesnt fit. Did you do it over the chrome or did you have another finish?

I did mine over the fake chrome covers....i scuffed the crap out of them, but they are still there....i took a close up when i got my new tires....

Yeah i agree with the shiny....a satin would work but shiny will show every imperfection.
