Searching on eBay is a bit of an art. Here's a simple search if you want to look by part number. It will check both the title and description for part number 56046038*. You can modify the part number as you like:

http://www.ebay.com/dsc/i.html?_nkw=...LH_TitleDesc=1

Many times, though, the seller will not include the part number and you must look at the photos. This search is heavily filtered, but it will still give you lots of junk. The key is: after you run the search, sort the list by 'newly listed' and then save the search and schedule it to run every day and send you an e-mail. This way, items posted in the last 24 hours will be at the top of the list:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=....c0.m270.l1313

You will need to know whether you need PCI or CAN bus, and look at the pictures for part numbers, etc. Becoming familiar with how the buttons are laid out will help, too.

Default EVIC Blank....

I got a 56046038AC and installed in my 06 SLT Quad Cab. The truck doesn't throw a check engine (like when I put a PCI bus version in it) but it doesn't light up.

Any ideas? is there something else I have to do?

I want to know this as well. I just got my 56046038AC out of a 07 Durango, got it in the truck, and it doesn't do anything. It was confirmed by the seller to work before I bought it. I'm wondering if the wiring in that connector is different between the durango and the Ram. I'm looking into trying to find the wiring diagram for both of them to confirm what pin out each wire is in each vehicle. I'm hoping that maybe the wires are just different, and I will be able to switch them around and get it working. I'm very disappointed right now.

Edit: The wires are not different in the connector. I hooked the 56046038AC up to an '08 Ram, and it turned on, worked, let me run through the settings, showed everything exactly as it should. So I know for sure that it's not an issue with the module. For whatever reason, this particular one is not communicating with the 06 truck.

I've tried 4 different units on my 2006, 2 with serial numbers that should work on the early series trucks, and 2 that should have worked on the late series...nothing

I know this thread is old, but I too tried the swap in an 06 ram, with no luck. After digging a little deeper, I found interchanges for all modules. and it appears the 06 will not interchange with the evic unit nor is there one that will work. My guess is, since 06 was the first year of canbus on the rams, they did not have a way of communication with the evic unit to the bcm. I'm pretty bummed out about it, but at least i can stop "trying" to make it work. Here is what I found for interchanges via moparpartsoverstock.com "I have not personally verified any working part #s, so please use this as a reference only.

Evic with Homelink : 56046107AC ; 56046038AC; 56046107AA; 56046107AB

07-09 Ram 2500-3500

Evic without Homelink : 56046109AC ; 56046037AA; 56046037AB; 56046109AA; 56046109AB

07-08 Ram 1500
07-09 Ram 2500-3500
08-10 Ram 4500-5500

Otis with Homelink : 56044864AD ; 56044864AA; 56044864AB; 56044864AC; 56049089AA; 56049089AB; 56049089AC; 56049089AE; 56049089AF; 56049089AG; 56049089AH

05-11 Dakota

Thanks for digging this info up.

However, I know for a fact that the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 has an evic. My brother in law owns one, and it is indeed an EVIC, not an OTIS like what is in my truck. I have not had the opportunity to pull it down and check a part number on it yet, but the next time I get the opportunity, I am going to. Once I get that part number I'll post it here. I'm also going to try to put it in my truck when I take it down, and see what happens.

When I replaced the OTIS with the EVIC I bought for my truck in a buddy's truck, it worked instantly. No reprogramming, disconnecting the battery, resetting anything. So we'll see how it goes when I get the chance.

I've searched around on ebay quite a bit and all the 06 Laramie rams for sale that show the console seem to have the Otis with homelink. Maybe your brother-in-law got one of the last 06 models and it has the capability? Does he have "tap to pass" tap the blinker and it will flash 3 times which is enough for a lane change. They started it in 07. New vehicle model years are usually started in June or July of the previous year, so the 07 trucks probably started around June of 06. With that being said, mopar overstock has production dates on these consoles which date back to 6/19/06. I'd love to be able to have the evic if it's possible, so any last bit of hope is appreciated. Let me know what you find out JoshuaAckley!
