Default Who has Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs, recommend them over stock?

Hello there friends. I am ready to buy me some Silverstar Ultra Headlight and fog light replacement bulbs and I am reading horrible reviews on how long they last.

Please let me know how long you have had yours installed and how much night driving you do. I am hearing 6 month to a year on these bulbs, that seems crazy.

I had them in my Jetta for over a year, wifes SUV for 10 months, and my truck for 5 months. All of them still going.

What people are probably bitching about was that no these bulbs will not last as long as a typical halogen. Due to how hot they burn they have a short lifespan. That's an issue across the board for high output bulbs.

I have some headlight lamps I never used. I put in a set of aftermarket headlights soon after I bought the replacement lamps.

A friend of mine put some in his Hyundai and had that same experience. I don't think they lasted three months.

I had a set in my Dakota FWIW, they lasted less than a year, both burned out within a week of eachother. I went back to plain bulbs, didn't notice much of a difference, at least not with my old, yellowed lenses.

Wow thank you guys for the quick responses, maybe I should save my $100.00 and not buy the 4 bulbs I need then. Some people swear by then them and then I see all the bad reviews, not sure what to do now. My truck sucks to drive at night.

I DO!!! I've only had mine in for a couple months but it's dfinitely brighter. I honestly didnt realize I could get an HID system for $70, or $20 more than what I paid for my Ultras. FMITA!

They are quite a bit brighter huh? I'm hoping to find some people that have had them installed over a year to see if they are still working. Seems like all the people I have talked with have had them installed 6 months or less, are they brand new to the market do you know?

From what I have just read, they are only designed to last for about a year or so. They are made to stay their brightest the whole time so you don't compromise your visibility.

As I said in my first post I've had the Ultra's in my Jetta for over a year nowand the wifes SUV for 10 months. I believe Hammer has also had a set in his truck for over a year now as well.

No the bulbs aren't new to the market. They've been around a few years.

How much night driving do you do in your vehicles? Also one last question, being they burn much hotter have you have any issues with the bulb sockets or the plastic covers on the lights?
