Most of the guards I've seen seem like they would do more damage than nothing at all if you did actually hit something. I looked at bumper replacements, but it seems like it would really bod down the front suspension on a 1500.

Just one of several things on my "Must Find" list...
Those hitches are made to tow the truck behind a huge diesel pusher motor home. The brackets are bolted straight to the frame and there is a extra cross member connecting the two bracket so its safe to say that I have a lil bit more protection up front over stock. I was thinking to that I have a light hook up up there so the tow vehicles signals go to the the trucks lights also. So I might be able to wire in some turn signals or small running lights in the bar also.

I would like to do a pushbar like that pretty bad, I wish I could bend pipe cause you could make a killer prerunner bar. I hope it all works out

Yeah, I don't have access to a pipe bender anymore. I have a good size brake and a shear, but that limits me to working with sheets and pretty much straight angles. I can weld stuff at 90* and maybe some other simple angles, but that's about it...

That definitely looks weak. I bet that'd break if a marshmallow fell on it. Looks good enough to use for light mounts and that's about all.

I agree that $250 is stupid high for that thing. That's an easy fab if you had a bender.

But it might cost a little more than $40 to make. Steel and aluminum is getting STUPID high in price lately. I was in Tractor Supply over the weekend and notices they wanted $44 for a lousy 2'x1' sheet of .063" diamond plate. Wasn't long ago that was about a $15 piece anywhere you could buy it...

Oh, I don't need any at the moment, I was just commenting on the price. I have a buddy who makes custom grills in Vidalia where I used to live (Sykes Cookers) who orders diamond plate wholesale once a week or so. I can either buy a 4x8 sheet at his cost or add a sheet to his order when I need one.

LOT cheaper thataway...
