Default Banks Programming for HEMI's

Hello gang,

I just joined the forum and am loving it. I just bought a 2006 Mega Cab 1500. Just wondering if anybody has bought a Banks programmer for their HEMI. I just sold my f350 Powerstroke and bought a Dodge so Banks calls me with new products as I am a consistant customer. Thanks in advance.

Congrats on your purchase. You will learn most folks on here prefer Superchips and/or SCT depending on mods. So it really depends on what you wish to do with your tuner. The SC's are popular because you can purchase an advanced trans package to adjust WOT and shift points, gears and tires, etc. Do a couple of searches, and you'll be reading all night.

While Banks & Bullydog are the rule for the CTD & about any other diesel engine owners, the tuners for gassers that have the best gains in the gasser world are Superchips, SCT or Diablo.

IMO Superchips has the better canned tunes and transmission support, but Diablo and SCT can be custom tuned for advanced mods (heads, cam, etc.)

Also, remember that no gas engine can be tuned like a diesel can. If you are expecting the HP & Torque gains out of a gas engine tuner that you saw out of the Banks with the PowerStroke, you'll be greatly disappointed...

Thanks guys, I have used SC in the past on my gasser trucks. I know I will not see anything close to an increase in hp/torque in the gasser as I would see in a diesel, but still would like the most power possible, plus I really want to correct my speedometer as the truck is rolling on 35's.

Diablosport says 25 to 30hp gain on the Hemi and I can definitely feel the difference in my truck! Not sure what SC claims.

SC is claiming 17 hp, but after spending hours researching, I'm definitely going with the Diablo or the SC, thanks again guys.

I've run both the Diablo and the SC, IMHO the SC feels like stronger gains, despite the Diablo claims. It may just be the firmer transmission shifts make it feel that way to me as Diablo supports NO transmission functions in my '04. There is some tranny support for the '06 with the Diablo.

Just my observation and solely based on an '04 which Diablo lacks much support for.

I was looking at SC website and the 3865 runs right along with their Cortex programmer. On a side by side comparison they do the exact same thing, only the Cortex comes with a 2 year powertrain warranty, any comments on this?

On the chart they show the same hp gains, but if you pull up the Dyno charts for an 07 Ram, The Cortex makes less power then the 3865. Both on 91 octane.
There is some part throttle adjustments for shifting, but I am quite happy the way it comes without adjusting them. The canned tunes firm up the shifts and reduce some of the torque management during shifts. You can also raise the WOT 1-2 and 2-3 shift points. I raised the 1-2 to 5750 from 5600 and left the 2-3 alone.
Either one is good, I have had 2 different Predators on 2 different trucks and can say that I am very pleased with their product. I have never used SC so I can not say either way on those. You have a 06 so you will have some transmission control that the 03,04 guys do not.
