Rpm fluctuations, and a stall.
Ok, so I took my tb off and the backside of it ispretty dirty. But my question is I can also see buildup behind where the throttle body sits should I spray and clean down in there, if so what pre cautions should I take. As I dont want any run of to get down where I cant reach and further into the engine.
I just did mine and I felt it was safer to remove all the sensors and use carb cleaner on the throttle body and scrub with a soft brush where the IAC pintle seats. I know someone said there was a TSB and I know sensors do not like carb cleaner so I felt it was safe to use as long as I removed them from the throttle body. Clean out the inside and the seat area as well mine was pretty carboned up and was filthy inside the TB as well.
I thought I read somewhere that the shaft when its out should only move a 1/4 inch I just need verification before I put it back since mine can move in and out completely, if I should just replace it at this point.

Update!
Ok everyone I went through the process of cleanin the tb out, and I just put new plugs in today! It was kind of a pain but I did all the hard parts first.
But still Im having these fluctuations, so what could the cause of this?

Sorry I just read that I posted the IAC thoughts already , if it was me I would be thinking of a pressure cleaning on the fuel injectors , I did mine with a 3M kit that was pretty simple. Since I did all the other work I don't know which helped more but it did make a difference in my 02 with 160k . Think of it as maintenance work until you figure out which fix solves your problem so you don't get to discouraged.

I'd find the idle air control, and unplug it. See if it makes any difference, if it gets worse, chances are the IAC is working. As for your plugs, go to any autoparts store and buy a spark plug gap gauge, its about $1, and somewheres in the engine compartment it should say the factor gap size, and check all of your plugs.
