Maybe there, but I just got dragged car shopping with a friend of mine not two months ago, she found a Caravan in her budget, great shape but 138k miles on the clock at one of those street corner used car lots. The used car lot owner had no problem letting us take it for a couple hours to drive and have the engine compression tested.

Took the thing to my local Dodge dealer (where I know them quite well) and they performed a compression test, no problem $75, and gave it a quick look/see for any visible problems like leaks, etc. while they were at it.

What exactly are they going to "inspect" for $160 CDN? Sounds like they saw you coming $160 better be a little more elaborate than the "23 Point Inspection" they give you in 10 mins with an oil change... $160 CDN is what in our money?

The single best way to determine if you have a good working engine is a compression test... Only problem with one is some mechanic actually has to do mechanic work for about 30 mins...

Hammer- 160 CDN is almost $167 US.

I just think $17,000 for 90K miles on an '06 "driven by a lady driver" just seems way too high. Do you really need this truck or do you want the truck? Maybe hang on to your money a while a look around for something else.

Yep, I took it as having 145k miles on it. I wouldn't worry as much about a compression test with 90k miles.

Price is a tad high though, in my area $17k can usually get you into at least an '07 Hemi 4x4, possibly an '08 with about half the miles on it...

I've seen prices vary widely by area. Down here, Rams seem to be about $2000-$3000 less than a comparable used Furd. I have a buddy in the midwest who bought a Ram about a year ago and found that he could have had a comparable Furd for about the same $2000-3000 less.
He paid about $3000 more for an '07 than I could buy one down here for and he shopped his a$$ off for about three weeks in a 150 square mile area around him.

My cousin, who lives in upstate NY, bought an '08 Ram QC Hemi 4x4 BRAND SPANKIN' NEW off the lot for $24k when the 4th Gens started being delivered onto the dealer lots. Hard to find a used '08 for under that now, three years later from a dealer. You'd have to go private to see an '08 for under $20k.

$16,500... I will have to purchase a windshield for it as well.

:/

I guess I am paying a bit of a premium to get the color and style i want and at the time I want.

Nothing wrong with paying a bit extra to get exactly what you want, but I'd at least get the owner to foot the bill for the windshield if it needs one, you are paying a bit over excellent condition price and low mileage price. I'd at least push for the excellent condition part...
