Looking at a 02 2500 sport V10 any advice
well to start out just got divorced so looking to regroup and I am looking at an 02 Ram Quad V10 4x4 Sport Black 75000 miles it has Tan leather interior all great condition had a clear coat issue it was from the AZ area which the current owner has fixed and it will need tires, so the question is what to look out for any odd questions i need to ask the asking price is 9500 thanks for any advice..I do plan on pulling a 30ft enclosed once in awhile other then that is will be used as an occasional daily driver.
Loves to drink gas, real good tow vehicle, as good as it gets in a gasser, IMO if you can afford the gas.
Pretty reliable engine, so-so transmission. Biggest problem with it is the engine never got any love from the industry so repair parts can be tough to find.
You may also want to inquire in the 2nd Gen section as this engine was much more used in the 2nd Gens...

My boss had two of these...but my **** were they thirsty.
Solid motor but they were expensive to run back in 2002 when gas was still relatively cheap...I couldn't imagine owning one now.
If you're looking at the v10 for the added power of pulling your trailer, why not look for a Cummins?

agree with gas the reason I didnt go with the cummins is cost i am really strapped but if I new I could get away with a 2wd I would but the minnesota winter worry me but maybe with enough weight in the box it would make it,
It's going to cost you the same no matter how you look at it. You either spend the extra in truck payments or at the pumps.
Personally I would rather spend a bit extra for truck payments as opposed to spending it in gas.
With the v10 you're looking (if I remember the numbers right from my bosses truck) about 8-9mpg city and about 12-14mpg hwy.

If you mustered 14 MPG outa a V10 you would have a freak under your seat. Plan on 12 at best on the highway, and more around 10-11.

A good friend of my ex wife had a 2nd Gen truck with a V10. I'm thinking it was either a '97 or '98, 4x4 and I think it was a long bed. This chick raised horses and used the truck to tow a horse trailer capable of holding two horses.
The thing pulled fine, but was down to around 6-8 mpg when pulling that trailer, complete with horses. Woman got hit by a semi driver who fell asleep behind the wheel back around '04. The Ram protected her real well, as she came out of it with only minor bruises, but it totalled the Ram...
