Default Oiling your frame??

Do you guys have a shop do it or do you do it yourselves? If you do it yourselves what do you use to spray the oil?

Can you enlighten me on what "oiling your frame" is, as I have never heard of it before. For rust proofing?

Alot of people arround here spray the underside of their vehicle with used motor oil. Some garages actually do it for you. So yeah rust proofing.

I've heard bar and chain oil is really good for it. I just got my truck last fall, so when it warms up I'm going to paint my frame and anything else that is a little rusty underneath. Then later on I'm going to try the bar and chain oil

Id spray undercoating. It would end up being just as cheap after paying someone to do the oil over and over

My dad and I do ours ourselves evey fall and spring. My grandpa has a gun he uses that's basically a paint spray fun with no nozzle so it sprays the oil. Its essentially free if you filter and save your used motor oil from oil changes. I was always told by my grandpa that the truck is to spray it then dive down a dusty road and it makes a nice barrier and oil protecting layer and helps so all your bolts and stuff don't rust and freeze up.

I can't believe I've been a car - truck junky for 45 years and this is the first time I've heard of oiling the frame.

That would explain the old ford I had, I thought someone had just fixed a rear main seal before I bought it.. LOL Now I know someone must have oiled the frame, too funny. I may have to try it myself. I prefer to clean, wirebrush and paint my frames but thier way sounds much easier to me.. If not very enviromently friendly.
