Feedback on 2008 SLT Reg cab
Looking at a fleet vehicle, 2008 Regular cab SLT. Has the 4.7, auto, 8 foot box w/liner, under 30k miles. Fairly clean looking, one ding top edge of box passenger side and spot on tailgate that looks like it was dragged on pavement.
Any special areas to be aware of? Concerns?
Would appreciate any feedback.

With that low of mileage there isn't really much to check for. Maybe blown shocks or something like that, but those are cheap fixes, and if you are going to be driving this truck for any length of time you will want to ditch the stock shocks anyway. Is it auto or manual?
Either way, sounds like a pretty nice truck with low mileage. Are you going to be using it as a DD or for work?

Thanks for feedback. I think it's a really good deal, going to be DD. I thinking of adding running boards, maybe a cap.
They also have a 2009 SLT with 45k miles, same setup, a few rub spots on paint.
Only $700 difference in price.
Both are auto with 4.7 engine, E85.

Just an update, the 2008 I was looking at became a "five finger discount" victim some time last week.
Checked on a 2009, 4.7, auto, runs great, cold air, no strange sounds. It does have a big spot of exhaust soot on the bumper. Soot was dry, nothing obvious when running.
Thinking that ox sensor may be causing it run rich, any other ideas why it would blow so much soot?
Didn't check for codes, I was on lunch hour. Info screen said oil change was due and 1 service message was displayed.

No you don't. My chrome tips have some black on them. it's from running rich when cold and the condensation washes any stuff in the pipes to the back.
I would take it to a local mechanic and have them put it up on a rack and look it over.
If the price is right and it checks out, go for it. The 08-up 4.7L had decent power. 310hp I think. They have 16 spark plugs. 8 on top that are fairly easy to get to and 8 down near the exhaust manifolds. The top 8 get changed every 30K miles and the bottom ones don't get changed until 100K.

Checked the 2009 over the weekend. No leaks, drips or damage underneath. Spare has never been used, brake pads are approx 50%. Well maintained.
Talked to rep, at work, from company that has vehicle for sale, he talked to branch manager who talked to fleet manger about best price. Called me back and said they would drop price by a thousand.
Now if the bank would be so nice.
