Default Frustrated!

Hey Guys-

I am writing for no other reason than to vent my frustrations with my truck. My Ram is an 07 Hemi Quad 4X4, that I bought last July with only 19,000 miles on the odometer. The truck now has 26,000 miles, and a laundry list of problems has already been created. So far, I have had to replace the power steering cooler, driver seat belt assembly, EGR valve, and now one of the front wheel bearings. This is the worst vehicle I have ever owned. My last two were a 2005 Durango Hemi 4X4, and a 2003 Dakota 4.7 Quad 4X4, and they were nowhere near this bad. I am so disgusted with this truck.

I understand that it was a used vehicle, but the outward appearance told my gut that it was a good buy, and only 19,000 miles.

Thanks for letting me vent- I still love Mopar!

That does suck!!! I feel for you but I can't say I know your pain. I have replaced ONE tie rod (and that wasn't a Mopar part) and had it in for a blown shock (warranty) when it was still stock. That's it. Rest has been routine maintenance. Well I did do my EGR at 50k, but I had no CEL, I just figured it was time.

The power steering cooler is not common, seat belt could be anything. EGR is a bit soon, but not uncommon to see them start to go at 35k or so. The wheel bearing is the one common one, although mine have been fine, there are a good many guys who've had to replace them well before their 3/36 has expired. Put you a good aftermarket one in there that can be re-greased...

In the last year I've had a power steering line, my transmission, my wheel hub blew out which bent a caliper mount and one other was seized so I got 4 new calipers, rotors & pads. My passenger upper ball joint is shot as are my shocks in the front.

These things are the major issues, I have other minor ones which are just annoyances.

I do feel your pain, especially how new and low miliage your truck is. But take heart, with tlc they keep on going.

I'd expect all of those in a close to 10 year old vehicle, maybe a six year old truck of any make depending on care and how it's used, but not in an '07 with under 30k miles on it....

The only vehicle I've ever owned that came stock with what I would even call "decent" shocks was my Chevy Z71. They get mild off-roading right with the Z71 package. The suspension is good, the shocks are good, the stock LSD is the only stock LSD that works worth a crap (in a truck, the Jeep line gets it right in the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee).
Problem with the damn Chevy's is they sit so figgin' low and because of the frame height they are no better with a body lift and look down right ridiculous to me...

Hammer-

I often wonder how the GM heavy duty trucks hold up with the independant front suspension system, versus Dodge and Ford with the solid axles up front on the HD series?

I dunno, I'm not really a fan of the Duramax and although the reputation of an Allison tranny is great, there seem to be a good many guys with issues with the GM/Allison joint venture trannies. BUT I really don't hear of many problems with the front ends and EVERY Death Wobble conversation usually centers on Ford and Dodge, but not GM???

I lost my first front hub bearing around 30K and the other one at 44K. Mine is a 2wd but they use the same hub assembly. Mine even have splines for axles.

The Duramax is a time bomb. Heck, it is built by Isuzu!!! The Allison trans is quite good though.
