Default No clue hat kind of cat to get Please Help!!

My parents said I can get headers and some other stuff for my birthday/graduation. I already know that I'm getting pacesetter LT's but the way the old owner set up his exhaust makes the current cat unusable once I cut a pipe off. My question is what kind of cheap (but relatively good) cat for my truck. 2003 qc hemi. preferably magnaflow. If there is one off of summit that would help a lot just post the link. and should I put the O2 sensor after the cat or get one with the bunge built into the end of the cat? thanks

I have a pair of high flow converters that I got from www.bearriverconverters.com. They flow real good and were priced right. They might have what you need.

Maggy cats are good cats but they ain't cheap. This is going to be a little bit of work, since the cat location will have to be move back about 14" from the stock location with the Pacesetter LTs, so it'll take a little bit of fabricating (been there, done that).

If the cats don't have the O2 bung, one can be welded on the pipe right after the cat, if your not doing this work yourself, any competent shop can do it in their sleep...

before you get longtubes you need to find out it it will pass inspection. Does NJ do emissions testing? IF so i dont think you will be able to do long tube. You might have to go with shorties.

How would longtubes effect emissions? If all of the O2 sensors are there and the cat is there, wouldn't it still just be exhaust gas going from the engine, through the cat and muffler and out. Sorry to seem dumb, I just don't see it.

sh*t, I didn't see you were in Jersey! Yeah, LTs won't pass emissions, in a visual inspection state you will fail even with just relocated cats, even though they are still installed and working properly.

I also don't know why, since I can't see how it would effect emissions, but that's the politics I guess. Not sure if Jersey is a simple OBD plug in or if they do visual inspections.

wow I hate jersey. So I'm basically f'd for LT's? The reason for wanting the new headers is bc the previous owner put shorty headers and some random cat back on but the headers kinda blow (all rusted up and one flange connection is busted). your saying I can get away with new shorty's though right? I haven't researched any shorty headers, what is the pacesetter LT equivalent on DF? again thanks guys

You should be able to get away with shorties or mids. Basically look for a CARB stamp or number on them and you'll be good...
