thats what I was thinking as far as the Hp drop. is there anything else we (Ram owners) can do to free that power up other then the e-fan swap. I WANT NY POWER!!!!!!
to get the 318RWHP and 334RWTQ had CAI from K&N FLASHPAQ SC tuner Flow master FM50 SI DO exhaust and DYNATeCH SuperMaxx Headers with cats and ypipe.
stock 3.55 gears, 4x4 07 qc
I hear a better, aftermarket torque converter is a big improvement.
The stock Converter produces around a 14% parasitic loss by its self, most aftermarket converters reduce this down to about 6% and bumps your rwhp up by about 25-30rwhp from the swap alone. The catch with the verter is getting the right one to fit your needs. Go to high and your truck lacks streetability, go to low and the mods you add on that need the stall will cause you to bog down. Its a fine line to walk but if you know what you are doing and where you are going with it, it makes a hell of a mod.
As far as mods to do......well there are quite a bit that can be done to free up power and add power, just depends on how deep your pockets go.
wow yea 100hp loss is huge!!!! they should have removed the kick down cable to keep it from down shifting. at least that's what i did when i got mine dynoed.
Torque converter is huge on these trucks. Like truckin151 said, you have to know where you are going with your truck in order to pick the right stall.
On that topic Truckin, if all you were going to do is intake, exhaust and programmer, what stall would you recommend for someone who tows but only on occasion?
Well towing is a whole other ball park. I would think around a 2600 stall would be fine. That being said they also make higher quality performance converters for towing applications

These are computer controlled. It doesn't even have a throttle cable, so no kickdown cable.

Did you install yours yourself? I have been thinking about doing this sometime soon to see the full potential of my truck... Not really anything I need, just a want, but that goes for most of the mods on my truck.
