Speakers Question a little confusion
I installed Diamond Audio Components a few years ago and today I noticed the driverside tweeter was not working. I took off the door panel to check connection and it was fine also checked the crossover and it was fine. I took tweeter and connected it to a 9volt battery to check it and got a clicking noise out of it which tells me it should be working. I then decided to hook it to one of my stereo in my garage and I got sound out of it. So I decided to connect a new piece of speaker wire to crossover thinking something happened to wire already run and I got nothing out of it. Pulled out an old tweeter and low and behold old tweeter work offs original wire. I ordered a new set of DA tweeters and pray that it fixes the problem. Anybody know why a speaker would give signs that it should be working but it doesn't. Thanks

Because you spiked it with 9V which is way higher than normal tweeter voltages. Kinda like hitting the body with shock paddles.
So, you are saying that the tweeter works on another system and another tweeter works when hooked up to the wires that the original tweeter was hooked to, but the original tweeter will not work on the original wires?

Original tweeter worked when I hooked it up to stereo in garage at low volume and of course the ohms of system are different. It did not work in truck on wire that I ran years ago or on a new wire hooked to crossover. But an old tweeter I had laying around worked. Just hoping I didn't waist $ on new tweeters I bought. Still waiting for them to come.
