my at3030xl has stuff in it. You can hear it when you shake the muffler. Mines in the stock location of the muffler. I have 1 resonator. It is still in place. It's awesome till you have a trailer going 80. Then it gets annoying really quick. When you're cruising it's got the best deep, quiet hum to it. That part's awesome.

FYI....My Magnaflow exhaust puts the muffler at the back end of the cab and the exiting pipes are only 2ft long.....produces the smallest amount of drone for a catback I have ever heard!
So, muffler as close to the tips as possible will result in similar sound with hardly any drone.
No muffler should make noise, if it does, either the packing material is blown out or the inside is rusted through or something?

Ok Well I'm going to just send back my AT3030XL and see what the new one is like. I too find it strange that a muffler should make noise when shaken. The AT3030 doesn't make noise. So is it the ceramic packing shaking lose ?
About the sound....
I perfer the mellow sound of the AT vs the Corsa. The Corsa sounds good under full acceleration, but it's a totally different sound. More gargle-ish

BUT the AT3030 with the OE front resonator on my truck resonated in the cab. Installed the AT3030XL in front of the AT3030 and it still sounded great but way deep. I guess the two AT's produced a too deep tone because the resonance was terrible. I tried Vibrant's Ultra quiet resonator in between the two and it was still bad.
So now since I tossed both my OE resonators and OE muffler. I'm currently running the AT3030 up front and the Corsa muffler by the rear axle. Zero drone (Corsa is known for this) and nice sounding on acceleration. It's actually quite quiet in the cab, but not 06-07 Ram 1500 quiet.
I actually like my buddies 03 Ram Hemi sound kinda. No resonators just OE muffler. It's just I prefer the straight thru design. Then again I've noticed no gains in MPG on my last trip (70-80mph, MDS off). City mileage not much different either vs stock.
I guess I'm not alone with the exhaust tone quest. lol
