Default Aero Turbine location ?

Anyone know if there is a more beneficial mounting location for the Aero Turbine muffler ? I have the Corsa catback and can confirm the "No Drone" but didn't care for the part throttle sound. WOT was cool tho.

So I put a Aero Turbine 3030 in place of the front OEM resonator. Is this location optimum ? Or is further back better ?

Just from having small and full size trucks the farther you get the muffler from the cab the less drone you have but I don't think there are any performance gains based on where you put it. Are you still running the factory resinater

The Corsa cat back kept the front resonator. It just wasn't the sound I was looking for. So now I'm in the process of playing with a muffler or two or resonator with the Corsa piping.

I had zero drone with the front OE resonator and Corsa muffler. I replaced the front resonator with the AT3030. It continues to run thru the Corsa muffler and still no drone. I just liked the sound of the AT3030 better. It's just it was too loud(I fired it up with the AT3030 and no piping after, fyi)

So before I tried another muffler in the system(removing the corsa) I just wanted to know if the AT3030 should be further down the system. I thought the directions stated to mount it near the down pipe, no ?

The farther back the better. They also last longer away from the heat of the cats.

Ok I'll move it down some. I re-read the advice of running it near the down pipe. LOL it's refering to diesels

"For best results on Diesel Vehicles, we recommend mounting your AEROTURBINE muffler as close to the downpipe as possible"

I had my AT3030 XL moved just under the bed. I kept the rear resonator. No drone.

I've got mine just before the right rear tire and still have my resonator after if. I have a little drone when the MDS kicks in but it' ok as far as I care.

Sil, Yeah I remember you said that.

Black Jack, I just recently shut MDS off. I'm going to see if there is a noticeable difference in mileage. BUT I hate the feel, sound etc when it kicks in. I notice it more in the foot (it seems) with the aftermarket system. I only notice it sound-wise with the windows down. Just seems to be deeper in 4cl mode. Weird

Ok I know ya'll are gonna think I'm nuts......but her goes it...

I wonder if my 3030XL is operating correctly ? FYI I installed a Corsa catback system on my 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 with Hemi. For 2007 Dodge had a front resonator, muffler and rear resonator on my truck. It sounded like a sewing machine !

So I installed a Corsa system and it install behind the front resonator. Too loud but zero drone ! So I installed the 3030XL in place of the front resonator then into the Corsa muffler. Quieter, just didn't like the sound. So I ordered a AT 3030 and mounted it inline with the 3030XL behind it. Love the sound, but it's too loud and drones. Took a 5 hour round trip to NJ today.....and it was awful. So I installed a Vibrant Ultra quiet resonator in between the two AT mufflers when I got home.. It's quieter but still drones like a **** while driving. It's weird. I'm not a sissy and love the sound, just wish for it to be more muffled and less drone in the cab.

Also is the 3030XL supposed to sound like it has sand in it ? I shake it and it makes a sound like sand is in it . Also AT claims the XL series keeps noise close to stock. Why would all my attempt to hush my truck still have no effect ? Stock sounded like nothing. I didn't like that at all. FYI I had a Gibson sideswept on my 6.0 Silverado and loved it. Although it did drone in 4th gear at 50mph. Not a lot just enough to be noticeable.

No muffler should make noise when shaken. Sounds like the guts have come apart.
