Looking for opinions about my stereo upgrade ideas
My 2004 quad cab currently has the original Iinfinity 7 speaker sound system with a Pioneer DEH-6200BT. The right side door speakers (front and back) and left side rear door speaker come on and off at will so I figure this is a good time to expand my upgrade. I like the year old head unit especially because it has Bluetooth and plays wav lossless audio via the front USB port. I use that most of the time with a thumb drive. Anyway I'm fairly satisfied with the speaker set up since the mid and upper range is coming from the dash which puts it in front and close to ear height. I have never heard an audio system that has decent sound stage but I assume this type of placement is the best your going to get. With that in mind I think I will keep the left and right dash board speakers in place for left and right front channel but add two tweeters mounted in the doors were the quarter window would be if it had one. Then use the front door speakers as subs as they are now but send them like 20-60Hz and put a 12" sub in a center console box and feed it 20-60Hz. I'm thinking of eliminating the back door speakers since I haul stuff back there and they will be block and I'm not sure if they will help the forward sound stage I like anyway. I'm fairly certain in addition two the sub amp and speaker amp I will need to add a crossover . So what do you all think?
Check out Focal Audio. I bought the V30 6.5" component speakers for the front and the VS series 6.5" components for the back doors.
I've yet to find a set of components that had, anywhere near, the same level of sound quality that these comps have. They are a lil' pricey, but in this field; you get what you pay for. LOL.
I could've went with a cheaper set of comps, but when you need comps to cut through, and sound great, 2k watts RMS of 10" subs, you can't "pinch pennies". LOL.
Check em out, you won't be disappointed. N, no, I'm not a Focal Audio rep. Just a very, very satisfied customer. LOL. Happy hunting.
