Question Magnaflow muffler

I know this has been discussed to death, but I've searched through the forums and can't seem to find the answers I'm looking for...so here it goes.

I've got an '08 hemi 1500 and I want to replace the stock muffler with something with a little more rumble too it...nothing obnoxious. I'm pretty much settled on a Magnaflow (unless there's a better option I don't know about) and was wondering what some of you guys are running. I'm looking for specific models, sizes, etc. I've looked at Magnaflow's website, but with so many different models and sizes, I don't know where to start.

All I want to do is cut out the stock and replace the muffler and whatever pipe is needed. I don't want to spend a lot of money on this. I might even get rid of the back resonator, but I haven't decided for sure.

Any help would be appreciated...thanks.

I'm looking to do something similar to you so I'm gonna jump in on this lol. I know for starters you should also get the Magnaflow Y pipe as well.

No problem. That's another question I have. I keep hearing about the Y-pipe...I'm assuming that's the Y behind the muffler...in front of the cats? I can see why that thing should be replaced. One pipe is flattened down pretty bad.

Nice looking pickup ya have there. What did you use for a leveling kit on the front? That's the next thing I want to do.

There's a picture somewhere around here that shows how restrictive the stock Y pipe is compared to the Magnaflow. And it's a BIG difference. Alot of people have stock exhaust with just the Y pipe and say it's so much better than before. And thanks, I have a 6 inch FabTech lift kit. Basically its a 3 inch bigger spindles and a 3 inch bigger coil spring with a 3 inch block in the rear.

also the longer/bigger the muffler the quieter it will be.

I have Magnaflow muffler #12198 on my 07 Hemi quad. After doing a lot of research, I easily decided on Magnaflow. This muffler is a 14 inch, single in / dual out design. The install was custom, both resonators removed, all pipe connections were welded. The sound is clean and agressive, with a nice V-8 rumble at idle. If you are not looking for agressive sound, you should go with a longer muffler, and perhaps leave the resonator(s) in. Also, my setup drones when the MDS kicks in and out at cruising speeds. I attached a photo of the stock exhaust components that were removed from my truck, and a shot of the rear as it is now.

The 08 doesn't have the front resonator so you don't need the midpipe like the 06/07.
