Homemade bumpers anyone?
i dont have any drawings, i would share if i had them, but i literally build them piece by piece right on the truck
IIRC the one on the mega cab was roughly around the 300 lb mark and the one on the dak was about 180 lbs, they could b built lighter but there are issues with warping while welding and the light guards are all solid stock, there are a few ways to save weight but think i got about the right mix of weight and rigitity
You certainly have a lot of talent with metal. I really like the one in your sig pic. They don't look shoddy home-made at all. I looked back at the pics and they just look amazing. I'm thinking you work with metal full time huh?
i dont work metal all the time but it is something i love to do when i get the chance, im a full time field tech for John Deere so that soaks up a lot of my time
Here is what I did, lol
Bland front with 1/2 inch crossmember plate:

So I started there, then did all this:
Looking in from the push bar:

Looking out (inside of front bumper)

General view

Welded shut the old holes with 1/4 inch plate

Rear cross member boxed in with 1/4 inch plate (passenger)

(driver)

Bar between crossmembers for more support

Front view
The two bars that go front the fabtech lift kit on an angle up are going to have a 1/2 skid plate bolted to it. That will be stage 3
