Default Best Way to form a heat shield

Hey guys, I made my DIY CAI about 2 months ago. Finally getting around to getting some stuff done on the truck...i.e retrofit headlights, getting some things linex and possible new gears. But I am wanting to make a heat shield for my CAI, what suggestions does everyone have on this? Any pictures of their setup? Also its a long shot, but I have about 15 yards of stick on hood insulator sitting in the garage (shiny silver stuff similar to headerwrap/dynomat). Would that be a good addition too?

Thanks guys. I look forward to some input!

Last one I made, I bent sheet aluminum and "painted" it with Plasti-Dip which is an insulator...

I got some really nice looking aluminum diamond plate I could cut and bend for ya. If I knew the exact size you were looking for and the shape you would want it bent into.

^^^ Seen pics of one of his, he does NICE work. I'd take him up on it. I had access to my buddy's LED sign shop and had the use of a huge punch press, TIG, 48" brake, shear, etc. But the bank came in and did the old foreclosure thing on him.

He did get a couple of things out of the place and I bought the brake, but only after it sat in the guys front yard for a couple of months. I have it sitting under the sheltered roof of my barn up at the farm. When I get up there again, I'm gonna have to basically take it apart, get all the rust off, recondition it and then I'll be using the hell out of it for sure...

It's on my list too. There's a DIY post from another ("F" word) forum where a guy used a rubbermaid trash can. Not sure how well it shields the heat vs aluminum or anything else, but probably worth a try for ~$5.

I may try the trash can idea some time in the next couple weekends. I may plasti dip the trash can too to add some extra heat resistance like Hammer said.

Hmm the bottom of a trash can.........

I do have some aluminum I could bend.....just been really trying to figure out what design to use. How to bolt it up etc. I have so much hood insulator too...its ridiculous.
