Default 2008 Ram high flow cats?

New User(first post),

I was wondering what kind of high flow catalytic converters I could replace my stock ones with on my 2008 5.7 dodge ram 1500 SLT regular cab.

I currently have (after stock cats) a 3.0'' Inlet / 2.5'' Outlet cherry bomb extreme muffler dumped. I used to have flowmaster 40 series dumped but replaced with the cherry bombs to try to increase the sound level.

Would adding new cats throw codes? and would I pass the emissions tests here in Texas. Would there be a noticeable sound difference? Some of my friends just cut out their cats, but I don't really want to do that.

Hope I posted this in the right thread category.

Thanks,

Can't help you with the cats, but I am running a 40 series flowmaster dumped as well and was going to order the cherry bomb extreme for better sound. What was the difference in sound?

The stock ones are high flow cats. No need to replace them. You won't gain flow or sound.

Well at idle the cherry bombs are quieter I think, I don't really know how to explain the difference in sound. With the cherry bombs it is noticeably louder and sounds better at WOT.

I kind of had a feeling that they were.... I guess that is a good thing since now i can spend my money on shorty headers. Has any one used these BBK Headers on their truck: http://www.autoanything.com/exhausts...0A3264547.aspx

Will there be a noticeable sound difference or power improvement with this bolt on shorty headers?
