Default Plasti dip

I've heard about this stuff, but i am not sure exactly what it is? i see people "plasti dip" nerf bars and bumpers.

I want to black out my nerf bars the chrome part of my front and rear bumpers. would this stuff work?

plasti dip is a spray on plastic coating that a lot of people use as a cheap, non permanent way of coating things. It should work well for what you want to use it for. Do a search on google if you want to learn more about what it is. I have never used it but have seen pictures of parts that have been plasti dipped on various forums and have liked the results. It is a fairly durable product but won't last forever, say if you drive a lot of gravel with your truck the plasti dip on the nerf bars would most likely get chewed up relatively fast. Best part about that though is that you can just pull it right back off if it hasn't baked on in the sun, and reapply it.

Yep, basically a spray on (or dip in - as it was originally made to dip tool handles into) synthetic rubberized coating. I always have a can on hand for various things like sealing a leaky rivet hole in a boat to fixing a hole in a garden hose, etc.
The nice thing about the product is that you need very little prep other than to clean the surface to be painted and you can cut it with a sharp knife and basically peel it off if you don't like it.

I painted the cheesy gray rock rails on my Jeep with it:

I've seen Ram_bo06's truck in person and he's done some good stuff with the Plasti-dip. I mean look at that truck^^^

To back up everyone else, go for it and if you don't like it just peel it off. You may have just lost $3.

Well first off you should have stock 17's but it really depends on which ones you have, can you post a picture of them?

My bad, I hit the wrong button. Yeah, the 17" rims, they are tiny.. The only picture I have is in my garage

on closer inspection of your picture, it looks like we have the same rims... I really like what they look like on your truck.
do you just clean and dry the rims then paint them?

You can simply clean and dry them...i would suggest taking them off of the truck of course. But if you do it that way you can get an idea of what they would look like, but if you ever go through a car wash with a lot of high pressure then it will probably come off....

If you want to make it more permanent then you can scuff the wheels up and then prime them and then paint them, but i would use a high temp engine paint then....
