Exclamation Sc 3815

So I'm looking at the SC 3815. There is a guy onmy local CLthat has one for sale. He is asking $250. I know this is way too steep but I'm not even finding them online. I assume they dont make this model anymore? Wheni search Superchips all they show is the 3865. I found the 3865 for $290 plus tax brand new from autopartswarehouse. I see a few on ebay going for bids $77 and a buy it now for $150. I'm also seeing them in the classified section going for $200 2 years ago... I'm thinking $150 would be fair but i did seeone in the classified section going for $100 over a year ago...
Any advice

Thanks in advance

$175 is a decent price. The 3815 was replaced with the 3865 and can be updated via internet to the 3865 specs for free.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but I've heard about SC tuners being "locked out" and that they need to go back to the manufacturer to be unlocked.

Is this BS? Can you buy a used SC 3865 or 3815 and use it on a different vehicle without problems?

As long as the vehicle it was used to tune was returned to it's stock setting when removed it can be used on another vehicle. If the vehicle was NOT returned to the stock setting then it will be 'vin locked' and can not be used on another vehicle. The 3815 & 3865 units can be unlocked via internet at a charge of $100.

First of all, I think $175 for a 3815 is a bit on the high side. You can't get the transmission tune update for it like you can the 3865 & Cortex. I sold mine for less than that TWO YEARS ago when I got a 3865.

Secondly, you better make DAMN sure the original owner returned the vehicle the tuner was purchased for to STOCK or you WILL have to send the tuner to SC who will clear it for $100...

If you didn't pick it up yet, I have my 3815 laying around that I guarantee is not VIN locked.

The 3815 can be updated like someone else said to be a 3865, except for the transmission side of things. If it is VIN locked, I believe it is a $50 fee (might be $100?)

If you want it give me a shout, I have no use for it anymore.

Just curious what you want for it? I'm interested. You can PM me or reply here...Also if you had a pic? I would like to see it per classified rules only because of a long distant deal...
