Default cold air intake question

I have a 2007 dodge 2500 hemi just wondering what would be the best cold air intake for power and maybe a little better mpg.

Vararam is best for power but its expensive. Your best bet is to make one. There's a How-To in the DIY section. A CAI isn't that great by itself but once its combined with an exhaust and tuner it does wonders

I got a intake from Chromeintakes on eBa. y. Good quality for 38 bucks. Filter is good too. It's a 3pc filter ticks in snug into corner, havent noticed heat soak. Sounds great too.

Can't say which is better than another... my truck came with an AFE on it. I took it off as it was stupid loud inside the truck (hurt my ears loud, took muffler off and it was same loudness). Anyways, I put a stock air box back on but without the hemi hat. I have exhaust and tuner. I really didn't see much difference in performance. Unless I'm at wide open throttle, I don't think I'd see much difference. Mind you, my 4x4 mega cab is a heavy truck. And with 4.10 gears, it probably isn't that noticeable. If anything, mileage went up with the stock box in there... but I drive city 90% of the time, to from the train station a couple miles on a hill with several traffic lights. mileage sucks no matter what under those conditions. Haven't tried highway much, but I get around 14.5-15 before and same after. 9.5-10 pulling my 5000lb RV (haven't tried towing with stock box on hwy yet). Town is 9.5mpg at best.

I just made my own, much cheaper and still gives you the same benefits a pre-made expensive one does. I also used an AEM dryflow filter so you dont ever have to oil it. Just take it off and blow it off with an air hose to clean her.

Which CAI is better and provides more power is all BS and opinionated. I know everyone has their fav but no one did a before and after dyno run with different CAIs so there is no definitive way to say which is better.

+1

I've got a K&N 47 FIPK air intake, and immediately noticed an increase in power after the install. However, regarding MPG, I'm not too sure...said it would add about 3mpg max I think, so it's a bit too low to see a significant difference on that, but overall I'm very happy with the purchase. Plus they give you a pamphlet and window sticker that can be referred to if a shop gives you any issue about it on a smog check whenever you have it tested. Not saying it's the best, but I got it on sale and it was well worth my money spent on it. But a great one can be made DIY as well.

Ok thanks for the feedback, what about taking the stock air box out and adding a cone filter like whats on kn cold air intakes straight on the stock air tube. Would this help at all.

But the chromeintakes brand is cheaper than a DIY one after you buy the filter. And doesn't look like a DIY pvc job. Just my opinion. I'll grab a few pics for ya
