Alright I'll look into doin the lifters while im in there. Shouldn't be to much extra work or cash i don't think.
And thanks for the advice on gettin the tcm as well. I didn't know that had anything to do with the tuning. After all a "rocket" is kinda what I was hoping to get outta this swap!! Lol

I ll be the first to say I dont know jack about camshafts...lol..What I can say is I ihave a 2005 ram 1500 with a HEMI in it. And as I was reading what you all were saying I like the idea of doing a cam. So here are my questions to you all. Q#1 Where are some links to some different camshafts ? Q#2 Can you just buy a cam and pu tit in and notice a difference, or do you have ot buy other parts, do programming, and 1000 other things along with it ?
Thanks

As far a tune goes I think most cams need some sort of a custom tune. I think some of the smaller cams (like the comp 260) can be tuned with just a superchip and don't need custom tuning. If you go with a bit more aggressive cam such as the comp 268 then you will need to get a custom time to make it run right.
Some the other guys here that have actually done there cam swaps might be able to give you some more info on the subject as I'm still just learning myself and this is just info I've gathered from my research.

Bare minimum you need to do the 6.1 springs and push rods, the rest depends on the cam you pick.
Some cams just need the springs/push rods and a normal canned tune (superchips or dsp) others need much more (custom tune, gears and a stall) in order to get you into the powerband of the cam. Look at the rpm range for the cam and some dyno sheets to see where the cam builds up and falls and plan your mods accordingly.
As to where to buy, Comp Cams, Inertia Motor Sports are a couple, do a google search and you will find quite a few more. Go to different forums and ask around what people are running, what they have ran and what worked the best for them.
