5.7 hemi comp 268 or ...?
Hey guys still new to the forum and am trying to do some research into a cam swap on the 5.7 hemi I bought. I'm actually swapping it into my 98 ram (in sig pic) and figured now would be the best time for a cam swap since its still out of the truck.
I've been looking at the comp 268 but still wasn't sure if that's what I really wanted. The most towing the truck will be doing is haulin the dirt bike so I'm not to worried about towing.
I do like to get on the throttle a bit and love the nice lope of a good cam so that's why I was thinking about going with the comp 268 as well as swapping the springs and possibly pushrods out for the 6.1s.
As far as other mods go it will be getting so sort of homebrew cold air intake, true duels with 2 flowmaster super 44s, possibly headers down the road (need to get the motor in and see what kind of room ive got to squeeze them into), and future gear upgrade from the 3.55s
Just wanted to get some more opinions before I bit the bullet on anything yet and thanks for any advice or suggestions!!

The Comp 268 is a nice cam. That is what I have in mine

It needs a tune to run right, needs the 6.1 springs/pushrods. It is more of a mid to top end cam as well

Thanks for the input guys.
And truckin I was planning on getting the 6.1 springs and push rods. I figure nows the time to do my mods since the motor is still on a stand in the shop and not in the truck yet. Lol.
What did you go with for a tune on yours? I've read about both SCT and diablo but wasnt sure which one would be better.
Also while Im thinking of it I've seen where some guys are talking about taking the MDS lifters and swapping for the non-MDS. But I've also seen where some people are just leaving the in and just disabling the MDS. Would it be a good idea switch them out or am I fine with just leaving them disconnected?

Its actually an 08 hemi out of a charger but ive been told it will run off the 04-05 truck computer which is what i will be using (as soon as i find one that is.) As ive figured out the MDS wont work when running the older computer which is no big deal i didnt really want the MDS anyways.
I also know that i dont have to switch out the MDS lifters just wasnt sure if it was a good idea to switch them out when i do the springs and rods or if theyll be ok.
Ive heard some people say just to leave them and others say change them so i was just lookin for some other opinions.
